After months of heat, the Coastal Bend is finally getting some cool weather with a small cold front hitting the area Oct. 29.
The front will also bring an increase in fire weather concern due to dry air and breezy conditions, the National Weather Service of Corpus Christi warned.
A fire weather watch is in effect for Oct. 29 and may be replaced with a fire danger statement or a red flag warning. Be sure to avoid open flames or sparks, keep vehicles off dry grass and properly discard cigarettes.
A gale warning has also been issued through Oct. 29. Northerly winds are expected to increase to around 25 to 35 knots with gusts of about 40 knots. Dangerous waters are expected with seas rising 8 to 13 feet. Mariners should avoid the hazardous waters in the Aransas, Baffin, Copano, Corpus Christi, Nueces and Red Fish bays.
Here’s the forecast through Nov. 3:
Oct. 29: The high will be near 74 with sunny skies and gusts as high as 32 miles per hour. In the evening, the low will be around 50 with gusts around 23 miles per hour.
Oct. 30: The high will be near 74 with sunny skies; the low in the evening will be around 52.
Halloween: The high will be near 78 with sunny skies; the low in the evening will be around 59.
Nov. 1: The high will be near 82 with sunny skies; the low in the evening will be around 62.
Nov. 2: The high will be near 82 with sunny skies; the low in the evening will be around 62.
Nov. 3: The high will be near 85 with sunny skies; the low in the evening will be around 61.
