The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for several counties in the Austin area, including Travis, Williamson, Hays and Bastrop counties.

The NWS said there is “potential for life-threatening flooding” in the area, with the highest potential for flooding Sunday afternoon and evening. The service expects 2 to 4 inches of rain in the area, with some areas seeing between 5 and 10 inches.

“Isolated strong to severe storms with heavy downpours are possible this afternoon and evening across South-Central Texas,” NWS meteorologists wrote in an update Sunday morning.

The watch is in effect through 7 a.m. Monday. Rain and storm chances will continue through the middle of the week, according to the NWS.
