COMMUNITY News:
Live in Los Alamos is excited to welcome Texas singer-songwriter Darden Smith back Friday, Nov. 7 to Fuller Lodge.
Smith last played the lodge in March 2024 and was invited as a favor to his agent, who represents a number of artists who have made stops in Los Alamos and loved their time here.
“I’d never heard of him before I was asked to book him with a promise that we wouldn’t be let down, and we most certainly were not let down,” Live in Los Alamos’s Jonathan Lathrop said. “He didn’t draw the largest crowd we’ve had, but we received praiseful emails and thank-yous for weeks afterward for introducing Darden to the community. Folks came from Taos, Santa Fe and Albuquerque to catch the show as well; Darden has some very loyal fans.”
With 17 studio albums to his credit Smith will have much material from which to draw, but his talent reaches far beyond his beautiful guitar work and evocative lyrics. Spoken word pieces punctuate his performance and he was the first artist to employ the lodge’s piano at a Live in Los Alamos show. Smith even offered for sale a painting created in his dressing room and inspired by his travels up the hill at his last appearance.
Smith will take the stage at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, but doors will open at 6 p.m. for attendees to enjoy purchased dinner, beer and wine. Tickets can be purchased for $25 at Los Alamos Schools Credit Union (cash or check only) or for $28.50 at liveinlosalamos.com.
