FORT WORTH, Texas — An Amazon contractor in North Texas is planning to lay off more than 200 employees later this year.

According to a filing with the state, Accelore Group, which in based in Richardson, is planning to cut 214 jobs at two of its Amazon Logistics facilities—one in Fort Worth and the other in Mesquite. The layoffs are set for Nov. 1.

An Amazon spokesperson told WFAA in a statement that Accelore Group was exiting Amazon’s delivery service partner program, where companies provide drivers to deliver Amazon packages.

“Accelore Group is exiting the Amazon Delivery Service Partner program. We’re actively working to help connect affected employees with other Delivery Service Partners in the Dallas-Forth Worth region who are currently hiring,” the spokesperson told WFAA.

This comes as Amazon is preparing for one of the largest layoffs in its history. Amazon posted the letter it plans to send to its employees on Tuesday morning, saying it plans on cutting 14,000 corporate jobs. One of the reasons given for the layoffs was AI. It is unclear if any of the corporate employees let go are based in Texas.

“This generation of AI is the most transformative technology we’ve seen since the Internet, and it’s enabling companies to innovate much faster than ever before (in existing market segments and altogether new ones),” the letter said. “We’re convinced that we need to be organized more leanly, with fewer layers and more ownership, to move as quickly as possible for our customers and business.”
