The Corpus Christi Landmark Commission is now accepting nominations for its Annual Historic Preservation Awards, which recognize efforts to preserve the city’s history and cultural heritage.

The City of Corpus Christi said written nominations are due by April 22.

City officials said awards highlight a range of contributions to historic preservation across four categories.

-Buildings and properties must be at least 50 years old and meet national preservation standards.

-The architect and organizations category honors those who use creative methods or make long-term impacts in preservation work.

-The history books category recognizes written works that document and share Corpus Christi’s past, including both new and older publications.

-The education category honors individuals or groups who help teach the public about local history and the importance of preserving community resources.

The Landmark Commission says the program is meant to support education, community growth, and cultural appreciation by recognizing those who help protect local landmarks and history.
