Today, Raymond Hill, who currently serves as assistant chief, will likely be named the interim chief.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Today, the Fort Worth City Council will vote to name an interim chief to lead the city’s fire department.

On the agenda for the council’s Oct. 28 meeting is the appointment of Raymond Hill to serve as interim chief for the department, according to the meeting’s agenda.

Hill is a 27-year veteran of the department and currently oversees recruit training, in-service training, the city’s office of emergency management and more, according to the city’s website.

Earlier this month, the city announced that former chief Jim Davis would resign effective Oct. 31, WFAA previously reported.

Davis had been on paid administrative leave since September. Officials said at the time they could not share any further details due to it being a “personnel matter.”

According to the Fort Worth Report, Davis resigned over a conflict with the firefighters’ union after he had pushed for an external investigation into a recent firefighter’s injury.

Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker previously said that Hill would serve in the interim position.Â
