EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 49-year-old El Paso man has been sentenced to over 50 years in prison for sexually assaulting two children over a five-year period.
According to the El Paso District Attorney’s Office, on Tuesday, a judge sentenced Cesar Lazcano to 55 years in state prison after he was found guilty of sexually abusing two children from 2013 to 2018.
The trial began Oct. 10 and ended with the jury reaching a unanimous decision and finding Lazcano guilty on Oct. 20.

Lazcano was sentenced to 55 years for the two counts of continuous sex abuse of a child under 14 and 20 years for the indecency with a child by sexual contact charge.
However, according to the DA, both sentences will be served at the same time.
The DA said that due to the nature of the charges, Lazcano will not have a shot at parole and will have to serve his full sentence.

“I commend the jury for holding the Defendant responsible for his actions, which robbed these girls of their innocence, their sense of safety, and their childhoods,” said District Attorney James Montoya.
The DA said that during the trial, the two victims testified describing how Lazcano abused them since they were five years old.
“Their statements today emphasized that he did not take away their strength. My hope is that it brings them some peace of mind knowing that this Defendant will serve each day of his sentence behind bars,” Montoya said.
