Earth Day is an annual worldwide celebration on April 22 that demonstrates support for environmental protection. For those interested in celebrating Earth Day this year, there are several events in Dallas to learn more about the environment and climate change.
Earth Day Festival of Service
Event aims to improve the Mill City neighborhood, southeast of Fair Park. Volunteers can participate in garden revitalization projects, while being entertained by live music, sports, art exhibits and free food. Clean-ups around the neighborhood will also take place. At the Juanita Craft Recreation Center, multiple artists will paint a mural reflecting Mill City’s resilience, values and aspirations, according to Reactivate Dallas. Joppa Earth Day Celebration
This event is open to all ages and will focus on uplifting the Joppa community through a mix of green initiatives, education and collective action — followed by time to connect and celebrate the community’s impact. Activities will include farm work, such as cleaning, harvesting and planting; a farm-to-table cooking demonstration; a neighborhood clean-up; environmental kid activities and vendors; and free lunch. City Nature Challenge
Participants are challenged to observe as many different plants and animals as possible using the iNaturalist app, all part of a community science effort to contribute valuable biological data.
