Stars defenseman Nils Lundkvist announced the birth of his and wife Malin Norén’s first child on Tuesday. Lundkvist had missed Dallas’ last three games and is expected to return for Wednesday’s season finale against the Buffalo Sabres.
“Some crazy days, we had out first kid so it’s been unreal. Super fun and super exciting,” Lundkvist said in a video shared by the team on Tuesday. “My wife was incredible and we’re super excited about our baby boy.”
Lundkvist and Noren were married last summer, with the Stars congratulating the couple in August on social media and sharing some pictures from the wedding.
Getting Lundkvist back is a boon for the Stars who are getting increasingly healthy as the postseason approaches. Forwards Radek Faksa and Michael Bunting returned Monday against Toronto. The team might also return forward Sam Steel for the season finale against Buffalo. Roope Hintz, Miro Heiskanen and Nathan Bastian remain out and will not return before the playoffs begin.
