H-E-B has hit double digits in the number of namesake stores it offers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since its big splash into the region in 2022.
The San Antonio-based grocer is opening the doors to a new shop in Rockwall on Wednesday, which sits on the eastern side of North Texas. The new store is located at 1600 Interstate 30, at the intersection with John King Boulevard.
The new site is in another growing city in the region for H-E-B — and provides access to other cities that are nearby, according to Juan Carlos-Ruck, executive vice president at the chain. That includes Rowlett, Royse City and Fate.
“It’s a good gateway community,” Carlos-Ruck said. “It’s a nice hub.”
H-E-B is investing in North Texas as it looks to compete with established players in the grocery community such as Walmart, Kroger and Tom Thumb. The Rockwall site adds to locations in Melissa, McKinney and Plano, along with Frisco, where it opened its first store in the push into the region.

The grocer has plans for several more stores in the region over the coming months, including a new addition in Forney, a city that’s relatively near Rockwall.
The new store, which opens on Wednesday at 8 a.m., includes a two-floor True Texas BBQ, a pharmacy and a layout that’s familiar to regular H-E-B shoppers.
Being near Lake Ray Hubbard, the store has put some focus on items for barbecues and picnics, including ample meat choices. It also has a wide assortment of ready-to-eat meals for the folks commuting to Dallas, Carlos-Ruck said.
