LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Emergency crews rescued a person trapped inside a vehicle submerged in a playa lake in southwest Lubbock Wednesday morning.
Just before 8 a.m., dispatch received a call regarding a suicidal subject. According to LPD, the individual intentionally drove into the playa lake near 56th St. and Bangor Ave.
The Lubbock Fire Rescue Dive Team and LPD deployed a dive boat and a firefighter was able to break through the sunroof of the car.
According to LFR, the individual was pulled from the vehicle with only about two inches of air left in the car.
The person was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
