HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Two men and a woman are in custody following a shootout in northeast Houston overnight, according to the Houston Police Department.

Officials said it happened near Highway 59 and Tidwell Road around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers with HPD said they saw two men at a gas station who began fighting. HPD said once they tried to intervene, both men pulled out pistols and started shooting at each other before taking off from the scene.

One of the suspetced shooters ran away on foot and reportedly tossed a pistol before being apprehended by officials. HPD said the man was limping, but it is unclear if he was hit by gunfire.

The second alleged shooter got into his car and tried to leave before ultimately being stopped by police. HPD said there was a woman in the car with the man, and it was determined that the man driving was her boyfriend, and the other shooter was her ex.

Officers said they found a gun, cocaine, and heroin inside the car, leading to the woman and the man being detained, HPD said.

HPD did not say what led to the meetup between the three or what led to the gunfire.
