What started as a simple idea — a group of women each giving $100 — has grown into something much bigger. A Plano-based giving circle, known as Women Making a Difference, officially surpassed $500,000 in total donations, marking a major milestone more than a decade after its founding.

The group, which began in 2012 with just over 50 charter members, has steadily grown into a network of more than 120 women committed to supporting local nonprofits through collective giving.

A Simple Idea With Lasting Impact

The model has always been straightforward. Each member contributes a set amount, and together, the group pools those funds to make meaningful donations to organizations across North Texas. Over time, that consistency has added up, supporting more than 30 nonprofits and now surpassing the half-million-dollar mark.

The group had previously approached this milestone in earlier years, as previously reported by Local Profile, and its continued growth reflects both sustained participation and a strong sense of shared purpose within the community.
