The accident happened on Savoy St, and the driver of a civilian vehicle died after being taken to a local hospital, according to DFR.
DALLAS — While responding to an emergency call, a Dallas Fire and Rescue vehicle became involved in an emergency of its own in Southern Dallas Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 3:15 p.m., the DFR unit slammed into a white minivan at the intersection of Rugged Drive and Savoy Street, just outside Kiest Park.Â
As of 6:30 p.m., video from WFAA’s helicopter showed the intersection still to be taped off with Dallas police securing the area, and both the DFR vehicle and the civilian vehicle unmoved from each other.
DFR reports that a person from the minivan was transported to a hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead. They also say a total of five people were transported from the scene, including a pediatric patient, two DFR medics, and an intern. The patient is said to have minor injuries, and no details have been offered on the DFR employees.
