DALLAS, TEXAS – The Liberty Flames will face the Dallas Baptist Patriots in a key CUSA series this weekend at Horner Ballpark. The series gets underway on Friday.

QUICK HITS

• The Liberty Flames close out a four-game road swing with a three-game CUSA series against the Dallas Baptist Patriots at Horner Ballpark this weekend. The series will be the last time the two teams meet during the regular season as conference opponents as DBU moves to the new PAC-12 next year.

• The Flames, 26-10 overall, have 11 of their last 12 games and six straight on the road entering the weekend. On Tuesday, Liberty belted five home runs, three by Nick Barone, in a 17-7 win at Duke.

 • Liberty and DBU are tied for third place with identical 11-4 records in Conference USA. This past weekend, the Flames handed Jax State its first two losses in conference play and its first conference series loss by taking two of its three games with the Gamecocks at Worthington Field at Liberty Baseball Stadium.

• Liberty head coach Bradley LeCroy is in his second season. LeCroy has led the Flames to a 56-37 record. LeCroy, who has been a head coach for four years, captured his 100th career coaching victory with Liberty’s 10-7 victory over Hofstra on March 1.

Out On the Road – 5th Best Mark in Country

• With its win at Duke on Tuesday, Liberty moves to 12-3 on the road this season. The Flames’ record is the fifth best mark in the nation, entering the weekend.

• The Flames have won six straight road games. Liberty’s last road loss was a 4-3 setback at Kennesaw State on March 22.

• The Flames are scheduled to play 25 games on the road in 2026. Liberty has 11 road games left.

• Liberty finished its regular season with a 10-14 mark on the road in 2025.

Barone Breaks Out

Nick Barone had quite the month of March. The left fielder hit a team-leading .348, driving in 17 runs and scoring 17 runs.

• Barone went 14-for-14 in stolen bases during March and enters the week fifth in  CUSA with 15. 

• Barone followed the month up by blasting two home runs in the Flames’ sweep at Western Kentucky, April 2-4.  On April 4, the outfielder belted a grand slam in the ninth inning to tie the game at 5-5 during Liberty’s six-run inning for a come-from-behind 6-5 win. 

• On Tuesday night, the outfielder also hit three home runs and had a career-high six RBI in Liberty’s 17-7 win over Duke at Jack Coombs Field, becoming the first Flame to hit three home runs in a game since 2022. He also becomes the first CUSA since 2019 to belt three in a game.

• For the season, Barone has hit .313 with a team-high 35 RBI and 29 runs scored. He leads the Flames with eight home runs. The senior is eighth in CUSA with a .609 slugging percentage and fifth in stolen bases with 15.

Marsh Marches On

• Liberty starting shortstop Tanner Marsh has been one of the Flames’ top offensive threats in 2026. 

• The junior has sparked the Liberty offense, leading the Flames with a .350 batting average, 30 RBI and 37 runs scored.

•The Flames’ leadoff hitter also leads in hits with 50 and slugging percentage with a .545 percentage.

• The infielder has had a 15-game hitting streak, the longest streak of his career earlier in the season and reached base in each of the first 18 games. He enters Tuesday’s game having at least one hit in 10 straight games and reaching base in 16 consecutive contests.

• Defensively, he has continued his strong play, committing three errors in 145 chances for a .979 fielding percentage.

• Marsh, along with right-handed pitcher Ben Blair, was named to the 2026 CUSA Preseason All-Conference Team.

• Marsh has started every game at shortstop for the Flames since joining the Liberty roster in 2024. 

• Last season, the infielder hit .295 with 52 runs scored, 22 RBI, 11 doubles, and two home runs in 56 games. 

• He also stole a team-high 18 bases and led the Flames with 21 multi-hit games. 

• The Asheboro, N.C., native walked 32 times and posted a .378 on-base percentage.

• One of the top defenders in CUSA, Marsh had a .962 fielding percentage, committing nine errors in 236 chances at shortstop.  He finished third in the conference with 153 fielding assists.
