Spurs playoff wins mean free coffee and a taco for San Antonio fans

The Spurs score a playoff win, you score a free taco and a free cup of coffee. Could there be a more winning combination?

To celebrate the team’s return to the postseason, Taco Palenque will give away one free breakfast taco per customer after a Spurs playoff victory, both at home and on the road. Customers can choose from either potato and egg or bean and cheese. The offer is good at Taco Palenque locations in San Antonio, Austin, Corpus Christi, El Paso, Eagle Pass, Laredo and the Rio Grande Valley. The giveaway is good 6 to 9 a.m. the morning after the Spurs playoff W.

To redeem, customers must use the coupon code SPURSWIN at checkout on the Taco Palenque app or just present the code in-store. No purchase or Spurs game ticket necessary.

Taco Palenque won’t be the only eatery with long lines after a Spurs playoffs win.

Eightball Coffee at 1432 S. St. Mary’s St. will dish out a free 8-ounce drip coffee after every Spurs playoff win, courtesy the Spurs’ longest-tenured player Keldon Johnson. The java giveaway is good 8 to 10 a.m. the morning after the win.

Meanwhile, La Panadería will bring back its mini conchas in Spurs “Fiesta” colors with a free sweetbread at all locations after every Spurs playoff win. The catch: The petite pan dulce is only available to the first 50 paying customers, so plan on a purchase if you want that tasty treat in orange, pink and teal.

Many Spurs fans still remember the postseason tradition of a free cup ‘o joe at the old Valero Corner Store the morning after a Spurs playoff win.

Circle K discontinued the giveaway after it acquired the Valero brand in 2017, according to multiple reports. Which raises the question: Why not bring it back? 

Spurs fan J.J. Gonzales posted that very query on Facebook to the official accounts for Circle K, 7-Eleven and QuikTrip.

QuikTrip and H-E-B gave away free coffee following a Spurs playoff win the last time the Silver and Black were in the postseason, which was in 2019. We’ll update the story if and when more businesses step up to the coffee pot to give a free cup.
