Officials estimated that the large underground hole was anywhere from 20 to 25 feet deep.
FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas — After six weeks of repairs, a busy Houston intersection has reopened.
Southbound Mason Road and westbound Westheimer Parkway had been closed for about six weeks due to a massive sinkhole that formed.
The issue caused a big problem in the Cinco Ranch community.
Officials estimated that the large underground hole was anywhere from 20 to 25 feet deep.
Crews had to replace 100 feet of wastewater pipe after a large sewer pipe running under the intersection collapsed, washing away soil underneath the roadway and creating a void.
A KHOU 11 camera lowered into the void revealed a cave-like space beneath the pavement.
