HOUSTON (TNND) — Police in Texas said they are searching for a man accused of killing a 23-year-old woman who was pregnant with his unborn baby.

The Houston Police Department said Kevin Faux was charged with murder after the woman’s body was found at a home on Thursday around 9 a.m. Her cause of death is awaiting the results of an autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Faux, who is not in custody, is the father of the woman’s unborn child, investigators said.

The woman’s identity has not yet been released pending notification of family members, according to authorities.

KHOU said loved ones identified her as Ashanti Allen. The media outlet said she was eight months pregnant.

“Being pregnant at 8 months with my first grandson, I can’t even tell you how I feel,” Allen’s father, Edward Allen, told KHOU. “My body is numb. I don’t think I can process the fact that my daughter is gone.”

Police said the investigation began as a missing person case before they found the woman’s body. Detectives later identified Faux as a suspect and filed a murder charge against him.

Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the killing.

Police asked anyone who has information about Faux or his whereabouts to contact the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
