Pearl reps sent out a news release about Amar’s upcoming opening, which is pegged for sometime in May. We reached out to Carlos and Clarece Clavijo, the majority owners of the incoming restaurant, to learn more about what customers can expect ahead of Amar’s launch.

“At the heart of the menu are some of our personal favorites — fresh ceviches, rib-eye aguachiles, tuna carnitas, and tuna nachos finished with truffle aioli,” the couple shared via an email statement. “For us, it’s just as much about the experience as it is about the food.”

Amar is expected to have a cocktail program that will work in tandem with the coastal-inspired menu, with a selection of mezcal and wine, tableside seafood cocktails, and interactive specialty drinks. When asked about why they chose to open a restaurant at the Pearl, Carlos and Clarece Clavijo said they were excited to play a part in the culinary ecosystem that makes the multi-use complex so unique.

“Being part of Pearl means a lot to us. It’s such a vibrant, welcoming space for both locals and visitors, and we’re proud to be included in that community. As a group of San Antonio natives and locals, this city is everything to us, and (a)mar. is our way of contributing to its growth, energy, and incredible food culture,” the couple said.

MySA will continue to follow Amar’s development as we get closer to the restaurant’s launch in the coming weeks.
