ANTHONY, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — City Hall in Anthony, New Mexico, was placed on lockdown during an active law enforcement situation being handled in coordination with the El Paso Police Department.
Officials with the New Mexico State Police said that deputies with the Doña Ana County Sheriff’s Office and troopers with Texas DPS were involved in a pursuit with a man identified as 28-year-old Miguel Anchondo.
Officers were able to track him to a home in Anthony, where officers are attempting to serve an arrest warrant, officials said.
All City Hall services were temporarily unavailable.
Residents were asked to avoid the area while law enforcement conducted operations.
A woman at the scene said she was the homeowner of the house where authorities are searching.
She said they are looking for a man. She claims she barely knows the man they are looking for.
The woman was upset that authorities are taking so long to let her back into her home.
Officials described the lockdown as a precautionary measure and said updates would be provided as more information becomes available.
We are working on getting more information.
