The Fort Worth Police Department is investigating a double fatal accident that occurred just north of downtown on Thursday morning.
On Thursday, April 16, 2026, at approximately 11:28 a.m., officers from Central division and Fort Worth Fire responded to a car accident near 1940 Delga Street.
Upon arrival, officers learned that the car struck a parked car on Delga Street and then continued traveling a short distance before it stopped. First responders found a deceased adult male in the passenger area of the wrecked car. Fort Worth Fire provided medical care to the adult male driver, but he succumbed to his injuries and died on scene.
During the investigation of the accident, Fort Worth Fire discovered a large amount of an unknown chemical inside the vehicle. The area was secured and detectives were called to the scene.
One firefighter was transported to a local hospital for a possible exposure.
Detectives with the traffic investigations unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident and additional details will be shared when available.

During the investigation of the accident, Fort Worth Fire discovered a large amount of an unknown chemical inside the vehicle. The area was secured, and traffic investigation detectives and narcotics officers were called to the scene.
Ten white plastic buckets full of liquid were found inside the car. The fumes from this liquid were very strong, but were contained inside this vehicle.
The content inside the buckets was tested and was presumptive positive for liquid methamphetamine. The total estimated weight of the substance was 480 pounds, and it has a potential street value between one and three million dollars.
