Officers say the 30-year-old driver stayed at the scene and showed no signs of impairment
HOUSTON – A late-night crash in Southeast Houston left one pedestrian dead, and Houston police are investigating what led up to the collision.
Houston Police Department southeast patrol officers responded at 10:20 p.m. Friday to the 5400 block of Selinsky Road for an auto-pedestrian crash involving one vehicle and one pedestrian, according to investigators.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by the Houston Fire Department. Police said the 30-year-old male driver remained at the scene and did not show signs of impairment at the time officers arrived.
Investigators said a witness attempted to move the victim out of the roadway after seeing the person sitting on the curb. The area was described as poorly lit, and police said there was no indication at this time whether the victim was homeless.
The crash is being handled by the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division.
