What is Bulverde, Texas known for? 

Known as the “Front Porch of the Texas Hill Country,” Bulverde is located in Comal County, 19 miles west of New Braunfels and 21 miles east of Boerne. It’s known for its small but mighty food scene, with staples like Specht’s Texas, a 136-year-old bar and grill that once served as a Prohibition-era speakeasy; and Hatch Cafe & Bakery, which was featured on the Daytripper

It’s also known for its rodeos and a historic downtown village, which is home to notable distilleries — and is within driving distance from state parks and recreational areas and well-known caves. 

Founded by German settlers in 1850, the small town’s history goes back more than 2,000 years. However, the modern-day city was only formally established in the late 1990s, after five separate incorporated towns began consolidating between 1996 and 2000.
