Levant BBQ, known for its Mediterranean-style blend of Texas favorites, shared the excitement in an Instagram post with the caption “BIG NEWS COMING SOON!”

While the restaurant in Houston’s Uptown has only been in business less than two years, its popularity isn’t a secret.

“Our founder, Mohamad, started Levant BBQ with the idea of combining two strong cultures into one,” the caption continued. “Now, that idea is expanding to Dallas, bringing halal BBQ across Texas!”

The exact address for the new location is unclear, but the restaurant’s Instagram bio confirms they’re eyeing the town of Frisco. In the video, Levant BBQ owner and founder Mohamad Kharboutli said they’ll be opening up quite soon.

“With all the success, we are ready to open all over Texas,” he said. “[In the next] two weeks we’ll open [in] Dallas.”

The restaurant’s fans were thrilled either way and shared that excitement; the post has since gotten more than 66,000 likes on Instagram alone.

“This is so cool 🙌 can’t wait to try it,” one person commented.

“A Lebanese guy running a halal BBQ in Texas. This is what America is all about man I love this!” another person said.

That didn’t mean there weren’t its share of trolls who were turned off simply by the word “halal.”

“Halal food? No thanks!” one person commented.

“No thank you, I’ll pass. I bet you don’t have pork,” another commented.

Regardless of people’s opinions on halal, Kharboutli said in the video post the mission behind the food.

“We do our best to get high-quality barbecue in Texas,” he explained.

Those who are familiar with the concept of halal and fans of the restaurant had much to say, but arguably the best response was “more for us…”
