ALPINE, Texas (April 17, 2026) – Lubbock Christian delivered a wire-to-wire dominant performance Friday, sweeping Sul Ross State 7-0 in Lone Star Conference play at the Pete P. Gallego Center Tennis Courts to improve to 12-5 overall and 5-2 in league action, while also moving to 6-4 in road matches.

The Lady Chaparrals established control early by claiming the doubles point in decisive fashion. Andrea De Bernardo and AnaMaria Zoric set the tone at No. 1 doubles with a 6-0 victory, finishing first, before Oshini Herath and Alexandra Luders followed with a 6-1 win at No. 2. The point was capped at No. 3 as Kristel Jativa and Ana SofÃa Valero Treviño completed the sweep with a 6-0 decision, giving LCU a 1-0 lead heading into singles.

Singles play mirrored doubles, as LCU quickly distanced itself with a flurry of straight-set wins in order of finish. De Bernardo opened the run with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles, and AnaMaria Zoric followed immediately with an identical 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 2 to extend the lead to 3-0. Oshini Herath pushed the margin to 4-0 and clinched the dual with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3.

The Lady Chaps continued their dominance through the remaining courts, as Kristel Jativa posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4, Ana SofÃa Valero Treviño followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5, and Aitanna Moreno Villa completed the shutout with a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 6 to close the match.

LCU’s depth was evident throughout, as the Lady Chaps did not drop a single set in singles competition. Jativa and Zoric each moved into a share of the team lead with 18 singles wins on the season, while Moreno Villa reached double figures in singles victories (10-7).

De Bernardo improved to 16-9 overall and 10-5 in dual play at the top position, while the No. 1 doubles tandem of De Bernardo and Zoric continued its strong form, earning its 15th win of the season and extending its winning streak to six matches (15-2 overall, 14-1 in duals). Jativa and Valero Treviño also added to their success as a pairing, improving to 14-10 overall and 10-5 at the No. 3 position.

The win marked LCU’s first-ever trip to Alpine and improved the Lady Chaps to 2-0 all-time against Sul Ross State. LCU will continue its rough road swing Saturday, traveling to Silver City, N.M., for a 2 p.m. Lone Star Conference dual against Western New Mexico.
