EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Destination El Paso, in partnership with the City of El Paso and Fort Bliss MWR, is inviting residents and visitors to take part in America 250, an eight-day community-wide celebration marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.
The festivities will begin on June 27, with Pop Goes the Fort at Biggs Park, a popular annual event that will serve as the official kickoff.
Country music star Chris Young is set to headline the opening night, bringing a high-energy performance to launch the weeklong tribute.
Following the kickoff, events will take place across El Paso throughout the week, featuring live performances, cultural experiences, and community gatherings designed to highlight both the nation’s history and the unique spirit of the borderland region.
The celebration will culminate on July 4 with a major Independence Day event in Downtown El Paso at San Jacinto Plaza from 5 to 10 p.m.
The finale will include a headlining performance by the Randy Rogers Band, along with a large-scale light projection show to close out the evening.
Organizers say the goal of America 250 is not only to commemorate a historic milestone for the country, but also to bring the El Paso community together in a shared celebration of identity, heritage, and unity.
Community members are encouraged to attend multiple events throughout the week and take part in what organizers describe as a once-in-a-generation celebration.
