EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Fire Department is being recognized nationally as having one of the Top 100 Best Public Fleets.
The designation comes from the National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA).
It’s “an honor that reflects the department’s continued commitment to innovation, operational excellence and emergency readiness,” the City of El Paso said.
EPFD’s Fleet Division plays a critical role in ensuring firefighters have reliable vehicles and equipment when every second matters, the City said.
Responding to more than 100,000 emergencies each year, the Fire Department relies on strategic planning, modern fleet management, and efficient purchasing practices to reduce vehicle age, improve reliability, and minimize downtime, the City said.
Those efforts help keep emergency response units ready for both routine calls and large-scale incidents.
“This recognition is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our team,” Fire Chief Jonathan Killings said. “Our firefighters and fleet staff work every day to keep our community safe, and this award reflects their commitment to excellence.”
This marks the fifth consecutive year that EPFD has been named among the nation’s top public fleets, underscoring the department’s sustained focus on leadership, innovation, and accountability in public safety operations, the City said.
