Plano ISD is proud to announce the appointments of two new campus administrators in the district.
At the April 7 Board of Trustees meeting, John Neumann was introduced as the Principal of Mathews Elementary. Mr. Neumann is a familiar face with the Mathews community, most recently serving as the assistant principal. Mr. Neumann is also a product of Plano ISD, attending Wells Elementary, Schimelpfenig Middle, Jasper High and Plano Senior High Schools.
After working in the business world, he began his teaching path in order to make a more direct and positive impact on others. Mr. Neumann pursued his alternative certification and began working in Otto Middle School in 2010. He has spent his career as an educator in Plano ISD, including eight years at Otto Middle School and four years at Murphy Middle School. Mr. Neumann also served as an assistant principal at Dooley Elementary.
Mr. Neumann earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Oklahoma. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University.
“My primary goal as a leader is to foster a safe, joyful learning environment that inspires a passion for lifelong learning in every student,“ said Neumann. “I am incredibly excited and honored to be selected as the principal at Mathews Elementary. I know firsthand how amazing our students, families, staff and community are. Transitioning into this new role feels like a natural step in our journey together. I look forward to continuing our collaboration and upholding the rich tradition of excellence that defines Mathews.”
Alison Reams was also announced as the new principal of Murphy Middle School. With 18 years of experience in public education, Reames most recently served as associate principal at Richardson High School. Prior to that role, she began her career as a seventh-grade math teacher and went on to serve as an assistant principal, instructional coach and secondary math specialist.
A proud Plano ISD graduate and experienced secondary leader, Reames returns “home” to the district with a strong record of supporting students, teachers and campus communities. She is a product of Plano schools, having attended Sigler Elementary, Wilson Middle, Vines High and Plano Senior High Schools. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Texas A&M University and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of North Texas.
Returning to Plano ISD and Murphy is especially meaningful, as she and her family have lived in the Murphy community since 2015. It is also the school that her son attends.
“I am so excited to be leading at Murphy,” said Reams. “As a parent, seeing my son’s growth as a result of the support of our staff, parents and families fuels my commitment to our school and community. My experience has taught me the value of a strong administration to set the tone for the culture of the learning environment we provide in schools. Combined with the expertise of our staff and the strength of the Murphy community, I believe students will be empowered to reach their full potential in our classrooms and programs.”
