As drought deepens, some have wondered: Exactly how much water does Corpus Christi use?
City officials have charted those trends over time in graphs covering the years 2021 through 2025. The data was unveiled during discussions on plans to respond to a potential water emergency.
In the most recent presentation, graphs showed average residential use dropping from highs of about 7,000 gallons of water per month to highs below 5,000 gallons per month.
Commercial businesses using a three-quarter-inch meters also saw a decline in usage, from highs of about 7,500 gallons of water per month to highs of about 6,500 gallons per month.
Although industrial companies also follow drought restrictions, usage has remained primarily the same — all companies combined, about 1 million gallons per month, the charts showed.
