LSU baseball faces Texas A&M on Sunday afternoon as the Tigers look to avoid being swept for a second-straight weekend. LSU is in a slump right now and lost six of its last seven games.

Given LSU’s poor RPI ranking, LSU missing the NCAA Tournament is a real possibility. That’s hard to believe for a team that began the year ranked No. 2 in most major polls. Hosting Texas A&M gave LSU a chance to dramatically improve its RPI standing, but now the best LSU can do is a single win vs. the Aggies.

On Saturday, LSU lost 7-2 after Texas A&M jumped out to an early lead and didn’t look back. A&M is the more complete team and they’ve outplayed LSU in every facet of the game this series. LSU will try and show some life in front of the home crowd on Sunday afternoon.

LSU Baseball Schedule — 2026LSU baseball’s tournament hopes

Entering the weekend, LSU was projected to be a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Much of that projection rests on the expectation that LSU will earn key wins down the stretch. LSU hasn’t done its part so far this weekend, dropping the first two games of the series. If LSU wins on Sunday, I’d expect LSU to remain in bracket projections on Monday morning. But if LSU loses, several analysts will have LSU on the outside looking in.
