ROUND ROCK, Texas — A severe thunderstorm swept through the Cedar Park, Round Rock and Georgetown area Saturday evening, dropping a burst of heavy rain and hail the size of nickels and quarters in some areas.

Photos from Georgetown show hail blanketing parking lots and roadways. Ryan Birckett captured the scene outside an apartment complex, where accumulations of small hailstones coated the pavement.
