SAN ANTONIO — A man is in critical condition after a shooting on the city’s south side, with police searching for a suspect who fled the scene in a dark-colored vehicle.

The incident occurred early Sunday around 1:53 a.m. in the 3100 block of Southcross Boulevard.

SAPD was initially dispatched to a local hospital after receiving a report of a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, however, police learned the shooting took place at the aforementioned location. A witness was allegedly dropping off the victim of this incident when gunfire erupted as he exited the car. Both the man and the vehicle were struck by bullets.

The witness reported seeing a dark-colored Dodge Charger drive away from the area right after the shooting. No suspect description has been released.

The man who was shot remains in critical condition and the case is under active investigation.
