The Padres are overloaded with right-handed-hitting, corner-infield types in the majors.

José Miranda is still doing what he can to remain top of mind.

The 27-year-old former Twin hit his second homer during a three-hit game, leading Triple-A El Paso to a 5-2 win on Sunday in the completion of a suspended game.

Miranda also doubled and was hit by a pitch while driving in three runs. He is hitting .288/.308/.480 in 12 games to start the season. He competed deep in camp for the bench jobs that went to Nick Castellanos and Ty France.

Center fielder Jase Bowen (1.003 OPS) hit his fifth homer.

Right-hander Sean Boyle (2-1, 4.86 ERA) threw five shutout innings in relief for the win after right-hander Triston McKenzie (11.57 ERA) allowed a run in two innings in the start.

Left-hander Yuki Matsui (3.00 ERA) allowed a run on two hits while striking out two in continuing his rehab assignment. Matsui has a 7-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio but a 1.50 WHIP across six rehab appearances as he builds up following a groin strain sustained in spring training.

El Paso dropped a 4-1 decision in seven innings in the second game of the doubleheader at Round Rock.

Right-hander Alek Jacob (1.13 ERA) walked three and allowed a run in two-thirds of an inning as the final arm out of the bullpen.

Bowen went 1-for-3 with a double.

Shortstop Sung-Mun Song (.664 OPS) went 2-for-3.

El Paso is 8-13.
