It’s the topic that never seems to die when it comes to the Buffalo Bills — who’s catching passes from Josh Allen. President and General Manager Brandon Beane made a big trade for wide receiver D.J. Moore this offseason, but he said they could still draft one in the first round if the right player fell to them. Texas A&M’s K-C Concepcion is a player who’s drawn rave reviews leading into the draft.
Concepcion had a meeting at the NFL Scouting Combine and a pre-draft visit with the Bills, so they’ve clearly shown interest. And he would be interested too. Concepcion has roots in Western New York, spending his first five years of life in Rochester.
“I was actually born in New York, in the Roc. 585,” Concepcion said. “The Bills are actually my dad’s favorite team. I’ve been watching them since I was young. I’ve been seeing Josh Allen. He’s one of the best quarterbacks in the league. I would be grateful.”
Allen and Bills Mafia would be grateful for a dangerous receiver like Concepcion. He was a first-team all-American last season and won the Paul Hornung award for the nation’s most versatile player. The 5’11, 196-pounder had nine touchdown catches, one rushing TD, and returned two punts for scores.
As he said himself, as soon as he gets the ball in his hands, it’s electric.
“A playmaker. A versatile [player],” he said. “I can play inside receiver, outside receiver, running back, punt return, kick return.”
Concepcion can win on all levels in the passing game, and he made it his goal to prove he’s more than just a gadget player in the offense. One of the knocks against him was that he did have some issues with dropping the ball.
“I’m going to work every day to fix it. Once I get that chance, I’m going to catch every ball,” he said.
There’s a lot to like about Concepcion, but there’s a chance he’s already gone when the Bills pick at No. 26 in the first round.
