San Antonio traffic is off to a rough start after multiple crashes are being reported throughout the city on Monday, April 20. The Texas Department of Transportation reports a major crash off Loop 1604 and Kitty Hawk, impacting the southbound lanes of the highway.
The crash happened just before 11 a.m., according to TxDOT. The collision forced the closure of Loop 1604, which means drivers have to exit the highway. TxDOT reports drivers are being forced to take the Pat Brooker exit. Traffic monitoring site SigAlert reports some cars are moving at 1 mile per hour.
It’s unclear what led to the crash or how many vehicles were involved. However, Transguide cameras show it is raining in the area.
Officials are also responding to a major crash that shut down Highway 211 in Far West Bexar County. Although there were three vehicles involved in the crash, only minor injuries were reported.
