A Waxahachie woman faces a murder warrant for Frank Weiss’s 2002 death, a case reopened by Frisco police due to technological advances and a key witness, police said
FRISCO, Texas — Frisco police have arrested a Waxahachie woman in connection with a 24-year-old cold case homicide.
Authorities say 55-year-old Lisa Honrud was taken into custody Monday morning. She faces a murder warrant tied to the 2002 killing of Plano resident Frank Weiss, police said in a news release.
Weiss was found dead near Lake Lewisville, which is within Frisco city limits. At the time of his death, Honrud was married to him, according to Frisco PD.
The department said that modern advances in investigative techniques and technology, along with new information from a key witness, led detectives to make significant progress in the case and ultimately secure the arrest warrant.
Police Chief David Shilson called the arrest a major development for the victim’s family.
“For 24 years, the Weiss family has waited for answers,” Shilson said. “Today’s arrest is an important step toward justice, and we will continue working until everyone involved is held accountable.”
