Swarms of Dallasites flooded NorthPark Center’s parking lot this past weekend for the second annual Eataly Pizza Fest — an event that could make any pizza lover’s mouth water.
Over 25 restaurants and pizzerias came together on Sunday to celebrate one of the most beloved foods. Whether adult or child, there was a slice for every palette at this year’s Pizza Fest. Several styles of pizza were available, from Neapolitan to New Haven to Detroit.
Festivalgoers could try slices from restaurants like Mimi’s Pizzeria, Salisbury’s Pizza, Pie Tap, Fortunate Son, Starship Bagel, SauceBros and more.
The event also included Italian wines, local beers, live music, hands-on pizza-making demonstrations, face painting and more. It was a true pizza party, kind of like the one you had in elementary school.
Eataly, the host of the pizza fest, is an Italian boutique grocery store that opened its Dallas location in 2020. Eataly’s chefs served their own slices at the festival, but the event also set the stage for other pizzamakers in Dallas-Fort Worth.
Festivalgoers voted for their favorites in a people’s choice contest. Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza won the best pizza award during the morning session and Rossopomodoro, which is housed inside Eataly, won the award for the afternoon slot.
Event emcee Terry Brown said they try to do the event “bigger and better” every year, so if you missed the Pizza Fest this time, you definitely want to attend next year, he said.
Ticketholders get all-you-can-eat pizza and endless samples of beer and wine and other free drink samples and tastings. In other words, if you come next year, come hungry.
