EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — In honor of National Library Week, the El Paso Public Libraries will be hosting a book drive, and the collected books will be distributed to children during the Día de los Niños, Día de los Libros celebration.
The book drive, in collaboration with Raising Cane’s, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 23 at 675 Sunland Park Dr.
In addition to the book drive, the event will feature appearances by the Public Libraries mascot, LEA, on-site library card registration and a visit from the Bookmobile.
“El Paso Public Libraries is excited to continue its partnership with Raising Cane’s to foster a love of reading among our youth,” El Paso Public Libraries Director Norma Martinez said. “Their continued support has helped us provide thousands of free books to local families and shows the impact strong community partnerships can make.”
All donated books collected from the book drive will be distributed to children during the 30th annual Día de los Niños, Día de los Libros celebration, happening on Saturday, April 25 at Pavo Real Park, located at 9301 Alameda Ave.
“We’re excited to support literacy and partner with the library to make a real difference for families across El Paso,” Area Leader Lawrence Juarez said. “Providing access to books helps spark curiosity and encourages lifelong learning.”
