The energy is different in San Antonio as both Fiesta and the Spurs are having major moments. Locals are responding in unique ways, including extravagant home decor.
A few residents are going viral on social media for the way they’re showing support for the citywide celebration and the team making the NBA playoffs. One TikTok post shows a house on the Far Westside glowing with fitting pink, orange, and blue lights. In just 48 hours, it gathered over 13,000 views.
Homeowner Matt Sanchez tells MySA he achieved the look through using two boxes of the Govee Permanent Pro Outdoor Lights (200 feet), priced at about $760 each. For the garage, he used the company’s Curtain Lights 2, and for the yard, its Outdoor Ground Lights 2.
“Growing up, we have memories of going to Spurs games and gathering with our families to watch the games, so it’s always been in our blood,” Medina said. “Now, having two little die-hard Spurs fans of our own, we figured what better way to get our little family pumped for playoffs than lighting up our home with the Fiesta colors to cheer on our home team!”
Meanwhile, Sanchez, who grew up downtown, says it’s great to see the whole city come together to support the Spurs.
“Game days especially,” he said. “Everyone shows out.”
He now lives in the Loop 1604 and Highway 90 area, and, unfortunately, there’s not much honking when the team wins, he said. Although the illumination is especially appropriate for April of 2026, Sanchez’s lights remain on all year.
“From New Year’s to Christmas, I’m constantly changing the display,” Zancehz said. “My neighbors love the lights. The Fiesta Spurs scene has been a big hit as multiple houses in the neighborhood are now running the same colors.”
Another user, Emeral Kepford, lives in Von Ormy but is still joining in on the fun.
“This [is] our son’s first time to experience a Spurs playoff season, and he’s excited to experience everything about the playoffs,” she told MySA. “We plan on leaving our lights like this for the rest of the season. Our neighbors who also have lights similar to ours have changed their lights to the Spurs’ colors. And currently planning watch parties in our subdivision.”
The Spurs were victorious in game one of their first-round Western Conference series against the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, April 19. The next chance to watch is on Tuesday, April 21, at 7 p.m.
