FORT WORTH – Isabel R. Hernandez, 96, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, surrounded by her two daughters. Funeral: 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2026, at Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Isabel was born October 25, 1929, in Uvalde, Texas, to Sixto and Julia Rodriguez. She was raised in Big Wells and graduated from Big Wells High School in 1951, before making her home in Fort Worth. Isabel married Emilio P. Hernandez on April 1, 1956, and together they built a life centered around family. She retired from Samsill Corporation where she worked as a machine operator. Isabel enjoyed making tamales, traveling, and spending time with her family, especially visiting her granddaughter during her husband, Bryan’s military assignments. She had a fun-loving spirit and enjoyed playing the slots, always hoping to hit it big. One of her personal goals was to reach 100 years old and be featured on a Smucker’s jar. She also loved cheering on the Texas Rangers and was a proud Texas Longhorns fan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emilio P. Hernandez; son, Emilio Hernandez, Jr.; son-in-law, Carlos Aguirre; and her parents. Isabel is survived by her daughters, Esther H. Obregon and husband, Sabino Jr., Susan Hernandez, and Irene Perez and husband, Billy; daughter-in-law, Cecelia Bermejo Hernandez; sons, Ernest and Robert Hernandez; sister, Lupe Galan; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
