LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Association for Women in Communications of Lubbock recognized local leaders and organizations at its 41st annual Celebrity Luncheon Tuesday afternoon.
The event honors community members for their professional excellence, leadership and service.
Robert Taylor received the George Mahon Award for Extraordinary Public Service. Taylor is involved with the Community Foundation of West Texas and serves on several civic boards, supporting projects related to education, economic development and philanthropy.
Headliner Awards were presented to Texas Tech Athletics, the Lubbock Measles Response Team, CottonFest and Allison Childress and Michelle Alcorn, creators of the Sam app.
The Headliner Awards are given to people and organizations whose achievements or contributions have received positive recognition through media.
Lubbock National Bank received the Louise Allen Award for Outstanding Corporate Community Service.
Proceeds from the event help fund scholarships for students in the Texas Tech College of Media & Communication and the professional development of AWC members.
