Don Kelly just said Brandon Lowe is dealing with some left knee discomfort and is being considered day to day. Kelly said he’s doing better and is trending in the right direction, despite not being in tonight’s lineup. He’s now missed two games in a row. Nick Gonzales will be at second base and bat seventh tonight.
It’s smart for the Pirates to be cautious with a player of Lowe’s caliber, but they’ll certainly miss the pop he adds to the lineup. Lowe is tied for second in the National League with his seven home runs and ranks in the top 10 in RBIs (18) and slugging percentage (.600).
