George Strait concert weekend fills hotels across Lubbock & surrounding towns

  • April 22, 2026

LAMESA, Texas (KOSA) – Hotels across West Texas are seeing a major surge in bookings this weekend as country music fans are making their way in for George Strait.

Many hotels say rooms have been sold out for months, with some travelers booking stays in surrounding cities, like Lamesa.

Hotels fully booked for weekend

Talana Cardona, office manager at Shiloh Inn in Lamesa, said guests started booking in late December.

“By the end of January, I’m going to say the middle of January we were completely booked out,” Cardona said.

Alisa Rodriguez, front desk clerk at Best Western in Lamesa, said the demand has been building since January.

“We’ve had guests start booking since January, so it’s been exciting for us and we’re ready,” Rodriguez said.

For those hoping to attend, hotels recommend bringing campers or tents if all rooms remain unavailable.

Shiloh Inn has 50 rooms on their property. Friday and Saturday are completely booked, with minimum availability on Thursday and Sunday, said Talana Cardona, office manager at Shiloh Inn.

“And when I went and looked on our check-in, then there was no room for no reservations. It was totally booked from online,” Cardona said.

Even oilfield workers in the area are giving up their rooms for travelers to have a place to stay.

“Some of them are leaving, checking out for the weekend and they’ll be back on Monday to give up some rooms for the guests that have already booked the rooms,” Cardona said.

Best Western, located down the street from Shiloh Inn, is also completely booked for the weekend. They have a total of 54 sold out rooms. Similar to Shiloh Inn, the bookings began months earlier.

“We’ve had guests start booking since January, so it’s been exciting for us and we’re ready,” said Alisa Rodriguez, front desk clerk at Best Western.

Both hotels say they have received between 10 to 20 calls a day about room reservations for the George Strait concerts.

Lamesa is also hosting its 15th annual Chicken Fried Steak Festival. For Best Western, this weekend’s travelers will be above their normal, but they are ready to accommodate where they can.

“I mean we’re all happy to have everyone, all our guests come into town to Lamesa and we’re glad for their business and service. We’re here for everyone,” Rodriguez said.

DPS says there will be increased patrols throughout the weekend, monitoring speeding, seatbelt violations, and impaired driving.
