Morning clouds, fog will clear way for afternoon warmth, sunshine

  • April 22, 2026

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Patchy fog greeted early risers across the region Tuesday morning, but it wont stick around long, as it’s already beginning to thin and clear out. Conditions are not expected to worsen significantly through the morning hours, so no dense fog alert will be issued.

By late morning, fog should clear from northwest to southeast as winds shift to the southwest. That clearing will allow temperatures to climb into the upper 70s to mid 80s by Tuesday afternoon, a welcome warmup after overnight lows in the 50s.

Overnight Tuesday into Wednesday, clouds will return off the Caprock, keeping lows in the upper 50s to lower 60s. On the Caprock itself, where clearer skies are expected, temperatures will dip to the lower 50s.

Elevated to critical fire weather conditions are possible Wednesday through Thursday across the region. Make sure to exercise caution when using open sparks and flames out doors, we want to avoid anything that could potentially start a wildfire.
