COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – A College Station man was taken into custody Monday afternoon after shouting profanities at former Vice President Mike Pence and making an obscene gesture with his hand.
It happened during an on-campus event promoting civil dialogue at Texas A&M University.
An arrest report obtained by KBTX says the man was in the audience for the symposium and was first verbally warned by a Texas A&M police officer after he shouted, “f*** you” after Pence appeared on stage.
Not even 10 minutes later, police say the man raised his hand and extended the middle finger. The man was then escorted out of Rudder Auditorium, but on the way out, police say he again yelled: “f*** you, Pence!”
The event was limited to students, but an online university directory identifies the 25-year-old as a campus employee working as a barista, not a student.
The man was booked on a charge of Disrupting a Meeting, a Class B misdemeanor, and was released on a $3,000 bond.
If convicted, penalties include up to 180 days in jail and a fine of up to $2,000.
