SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A new report shows the effort to build a new downtown arena for the San Antonio Spurs is outscoring the opposition by a wide margin.
According to KSAT-12, a political action committee called “Win Together” has raised $5 million in contributions from September 26 through October 25.
That’s on top of the $2 million it had reported in a previous campaign filing.
The largest donor has been the Spurs, contributing more than $5 million to the effort.
KSAT says other donations have come from Valero, USAA, HEB, Zachry Corporation, Silver Ventures and Oxbow Development Group.
The PAC was formed to support Propositions A and B on the Bexar County ballot.
Prop A seeks $240 million to renovate and expand facilities near Frost Bank Center, where the Spurs currently play their home games.
Prop B is for whether or not voters want to use $311 million dollars of taxes the county collects on car rentals, hotel stays and venue taxes to help build a new arena for the Spurs.
Early voting is currently underway until October 31 and Election Day is Tuesday, November 4.
Meanwhile, the opposition campaign reports $219,000 in contributions in the past two filings.
