BTS fans are being forewarned – stay off the Franklin Mountains.
Jorge Vazquez, executive director of the Special Events Center, said most El Pasoans know some people like to try to watch events at the Sun Bowl Stadium – without tickets, which means climbing up the mountains.
At the Coldplay concert last year, frontman Chris Martin noticed fans enjoying the show from the mountains. The group performed two nights in June as part of their Music of the Spheres Tour.
But this time, Vazquez wants all to know it will not be tolerated for the BTS concerts on May 2-3.

“The Sun Bowl Stadium is an iconic facility that was carved into the mountains. For those of you who are not from El Paso, you may not know that some love to go into the mountain and watch the show. However, it’s very dangerous because it’s loose rock, it’s super tall, and we don’t want anybody to get hurt.”
“We want to make sure everybody comes in with a ticket and they have a great time inside the Sun Bowl,” he said.
Vazquez said he will have dedicated staff, including security and law enforcement, to monitor the perimeter. Noncompliance may result in trespassing offenses.
“We want to make sure no one goes there and we’re going to have security to make sure that doesn’t happen,” he said.
BTS El Paso dates
BTS will perform two shows in El Paso at the Sun Bowl Stadium on Saturday and Sunday, May 2-3.
