Students and staff at the northwest Austin high school were evacuated for around 35 minutes as police investigated the threat.
AUSTIN, Texas — Law enforcement officials have given the “all-clear” after Westwood High School in northwest Austin was evacuated due to a bomb threat on Wednesday.
In a letter to families, Principal Erin Campbell said the call appeared to be part of a more widespread series of “swatting” incidents affecting several school districts.
Students and staff were immediately evacuated to the Warrior Bowl following the threat, and police and fire officials were notified, Campbell said.
Police gave the all-clear following a thorough sweep of the campus buildings. All students and staff were able to return inside after about 35 minutes.
“At no time were our students or staff in any danger,” Campbell said. “We appreciate the calm way our students and staff handled the disruption, and we are thankful for the quick responses from police and firefighters.”
