EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A registered sex offender was arrested Tuesday, April 22, on multiple charges related to registry violations.

Jesus Alfredo Cuellar, 47, of El Paso’s Lower Valley, was taken into custody April 21 in the 100 block of Croom Road, police said.

According to police, the investigation began after authorities learned Cuellar had met with a 9-year-old child and was communicating with the minor using an unregistered phone number.

The investigation revealed Cuellar failed to report several required digital identifiers, including a new phone number, social media accounts and an email address, as required under state law for registered sex offenders.

Cuellar faces three counts of failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements, all tied to his lifetime registration status. Bonds were set at $100,000 for each charge by Judges Acosta and Duke.

Cuellar was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.

Police said the department maintains a zero-tolerance policy for sex offender registry violations.

Authorities encourage the public to report suspected violations. Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 915-566-8477 or through the police department’s non-emergency line at 915-832-4400.
