Caught in the chaos, Christine Miller said she and her boyfriend had no idea they were watching the end of a multi-day manhunt as they watched an arrest in the middle of an Anna street on Monday.

“It was hard for my brain to process, because I was just kind of hung up on, I just saw someone pull a gun and there were cop lights flashing behind me, so I wasn’t sure what was really taking place at the moment,” said Miller.

Monday, Miller said the couple was on their way home to Allen from a stay at Choctaw when they stopped in Anna for gas near US-75 and White Street.

At a red light, video shows officers swarming the car one lane over just before noon.

She’d soon learn they were detaining one of two people accused of gunning down 17-year-old Ty’ron Kuria in a Wylie Park Thursday night.

Around the same time, Anna police confirmed a second arrest took place near Anna High School.

Wylie Police later announced capital murder charges for Anna residents Jeremy Butler and Valquan Harris.

The shooting happened in Dodd Park near an elementary school and just feet from Kuria’s home according to family.

Police have yet to release a motive and say the investigation is ongoing.

“I’m a mother and thinking about my kids in high school and how easily a life can be taken, and over, it couldn’t be anything important, you know, something silly. To realize this is happening is terrible,” said Miller.
